Republic Bank Rightstart Sir Everton Weekes Cricket Competition

The third annual Republic Bank Rightstart Sir Everton Weekes Under-13 Cricket Competition concluded with Combermere School having to settle for second place to new Champions Alexandra School.

Several outstanding performers were recognised and continue to blossom from the experience this tournament brings. One such person is Nico Reifer from Queen’s College who was the recipient of the award of Most Valuable Player.  Reifer received a Republic Bank Rightstart account for his excellent performance. He was not alone as several others received Republic Bank Rightstart accounts for outstanding performances with the bat, ball and in the field.

The rivalry between these two schools is nothing new, as the boys at Alexandra have for the past 3 years succumbed to the Waterford boys. The ecstatic look on their faces as they received their medals painted the picture of how their hard work and dedication paid off.

At the conclusion of the tournament 25 young men were selected to participate in a coaching clinic which sought to further enhance their skills.  Brian Charles, Manager, Republic Bank Customer Contact Centre said “The one on one coaching received through the clinics can be crucial to the development of the “complete cricketer,” instilling discipline, self confidence and building of character all characteristics with which Republic Bank is proud to be associated.”  The coaching clinics took place from December 16th – 19th, 2013 and sought to develop individual skills, both with the bat and ball and to improve interpersonal skills giving these young men the Rightstart on their path to be the leading cricketers in Barbados.
