Paragon Crowned Champions Of Republic Bank Inter-Club Tennis

Congratulations to Paragon Tennis Club who recaptured their glory days to be crowned champions of the keenly contested Republic Bank Inter-Club Tennis Championship when the 2015 tournament climaxed at the National Tennis Center in Wildey.

The resurgent Paragon team left it to the final match of the day and needed a spirited performance from the doubles team of Matthew Foster-Estwick and veteran Sherry Belle who defeated Cherise Slocombe and Kenton Gamble of Tennis Centre 9-8. That victory was enough to give Paragon the overall title by a score of 42 points to 38.

Tennis Center played unbeaten until the final and Cherise Slocombe was chosen as the MVP of the tournament.

The top four teams which made it to the semifinals were Tennis Center, Paragon, UWI and Summerhayes.

Offering her congratulations to the competitors, General Manager, Retail Banking, Susan Torry, said the Bank was pleased to continue its contribution to inter-club tennis in Barbados.

“This has been our sixth year sponsoring the Barbados Tennis Association’s Inter-Club Tennis Championship. Republic Bank is certainly happy to play a role in exposing our young players to competition and encouraging them to develop their talents on and off the court. We are also pleased to see that this tournament continues to bridge the generational gap, simultaneously facilitating veteran players and inspiring our younger tennis players to strive for greater achievement.”
